Consists of manuscripts of Heydon's writings and correspondence with friend Maude Horn. Manuscripts include "Po-pa-gie," a
retelling of a Native American tradition, "Alaska Yukon ballads," about life in the Yukon, "My pearl," "The sourdough's lament,"
"The mastodon," and others. Also includes "An Alaskan tale," a handmade artist's book with caligraphic text and 5 pen-and-ink
drawings, bound between 2 pieces of tree bark (23 x 21 cm), lettered, illustrated, and embellished with gold nuggets. Correspondence
covers Heydon's trial on statutory rape, his writing, his magnetic therapy theories, ministering to the sick, mining in the
Klondike, life in Dawson City, Yukon and a fight with a bear that broke into his cabin. Also includes research on Heydon,
a clipping on his magnetic discoveries, illustration of one of his northern stories, and photographs.

Asa Thurston Heydon was born Apr. 12, 1862 in Albion, Ill., son of Edwin A. Heydon and Howe Thurston and a grandson of Asa
and Lucy G. Thurston, Missionaries to Hawaii. He spent many years in the Yukon studying the "power in vibrations". He died
in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 2, 1928.
